NonProfit Leadership Development Program (sponsored by National Penn Bank)
WHAT IS IT?
The NonProfit Leadership Development Program, sponsored by National Penn Bank, formerly KNBT Bank, is a multi-week program that teaches the ins and outs of the nonprofit sector. The program will run for five to eight weeks in the summer and students will participate in a one-day per week seminar lasting roughly two hours. It is a supplement to an internship in the nonprofit sector, open to students interning at a Lehigh Valley nonprofit.
Participating students will benefit from executives and members of nonprofits who will come and speak about a variety of topics, some of which include:
*Budgeting procedures such as grant writing, fundraising
*Differences between nonprofits such as size, type, issues they face
*Managing volunteers and utilizing boards
*Necessary communication skills and leadership styles
*Strategic planning and founding an organization
Organizations that will potentially provide speakers consist of:
*The American Red Cross
*Boys and Girls Clubs of America
*Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley
*Community Action Committee of the Lehigh Valley
*Lehigh County Conference of Churches
*Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations (PANO)
*Weed and Seed
*The Nurture Nature Center
(The names of speakers will be posted when their participation is definite)
WHEN IS IT?
