Alumni Volunteers Provide Guidance to Students

  • Volunteer Database: Share your expertise and passion for your work by being a part of our AlumNet database. Career services staff work with students and alumni to provide lists from this database for networking purposes.
  • Networking Nights: Attend a regional networking night held during the academic year. These programs provide students with the opportunity to hone their networking skills, learn about career areas, and seek the advice of professionals. Annual networking programs take place in New York City, Philadelphia, Boston and Washington D.C. Update your contact information here to ensure an invitation to events in your region
  • Mock Interviews in the Field: Conduct mock interviews, either at your work place or via telephone. These experiences allow students to practice their interviewing skills through realistic practice with a professional in their field of interest.
  • On-Campus Workshop/Panel Presentations: Return to campus and share your expertise with students. Topics and times vary throughout the academic year.
  • Professionals in Residence: Spend a day on campus connecting with students in a variety of ways, such as leading an information session on your organization or industry, conducting mock interviews, and reviewing student resumes.

RECRUITING OPPORTUNITIES

  • Hire a ‘Pard: Learn how to post a job or internship, career fair details, resume collections, on campus interviewing, and more!
  • Serve as a liaison: Serve as a contact to support a recruiting relationship between your employer and Lafayette, and/or provide current information regarding job postings.
  • Information sessions: Share information with students highlighting your organization or industry on campus.

PROVIDE EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING FOR STUDENTS

  • Host an Externship: Each January more than 300 Lafayette sophomores, juniors, and seniors participate in shadowing experiences through the Externship Program. These two-to-five day, unpaid opportunities provide students with a glimpse of the host’s day-to-day work, career field, and industry.
  • Host an Internship: Provide a summer internship experience or connect students with existing internships at your place of employment. An internship provides a balance between the learning objectives of the student and the specific work an organization needs completed.
